Wrong Person, Right Seat. What to Do? Part 3 of 4
This month, I have been sharing the importance of having the right person for every seat in your organization. Why? Because your people are one of the most important investments your company makes. Invest wisely. Going from Good to Great Think about this quote from the book, Good to Great: [box] “First Who…Then What. We expected that good-to-great leaders would begin by setting a new vision and strategy. We found instead that they first got the right people on the bus, the wrong people off the bus, and the right people in the right seats– and then they figured out where to drive it.”[/box] As you saw from the story last week, sometimes as business leaders we are faced with situations where a team member could culturally be a great fit for our organization, however, they lacked a desire to do the work or to be in the role they

Can You Relate: Right Person, Wrong Seat? Part 2
I’m excited to share this story with you as part 2 of our People Series. Can you relate to having a great person that left the company and you had no idea why? Well, you’re not alone. This client was absolutely perplexed when a great employee left. After using the People AnalyzerTM and GWCTM, we were able to quickly cut through the confusion and get REAL clarity on why. The Situation. Great Employee, Great Work, Why Did He Leave? This client had just begun their EOS journey when this situation arose. As we began our first session and got further in our conversation, it became clear, no matter what else we had planned to discuss that day, this lingering question of ‘why would he leave?’ wasn’t going away. The owner shared with me that his entire leadership team had been trying to figure out all week why this employee left.
Right People, Right Seats. You Have to Have Both to Achieve Success. Part 1 of 4.
This month we’re going to be talking about one of your most important assets, and expenses – PEOPLE! Why? Many people are returning to work and many of my clients are hiring, as well as myself by adding a virtual assistant to my team. Everyone is asking the same questions: How do I know if they are the right person? Will they fit with us? Or, perhaps you’re in the position of having to reduce your team due to COVID’s impact. It is just as important to make sure you keep the right people for the right seat! 2 Key EOS Tools There are 2 tools in the EOS Toolbox that help with getting true clarity evaluating the people on your team and those you’re looking to add to the team. They are The People Analyzer Tool & GWC. The People Analyzer – Cultural Fit The People Analyzer is used

This holiday weekend, make time for yourself a priority.
TGIF and happy 4th of July weekend! Make sure you enjoy the holiday and take time for yourself the next couple of days. You work hard, and you certainly need and deserve to carve out time for your personal life. Work isn’t going anywhere. We often get caught up in the fast-paced business mentality of having to answer every phone call, reply to every email, and solve every problem with such urgency that we forget to take a step back every once-in-awhile and enjoy our lives and loved ones. Taking time off of work is not only good for avoiding burnout and creative blocks, but also good for your physical and mental health. Since the pandemic started, your mind and body have constantly been in defense mode, working through new stressors and obstacles every day. It’s important that you allow time for your brain to regroup. We do our best
Chaos Does Not Have to Create Uncertainty
Last week I talked about a mid-year check-in and how you’re doing on your business goals for the year. External changes outside of your control, like COVID’s impact, can make everything feel like chaos. That we’re simply trying to “hang on”. But the reality is that chaos does not have to create uncertainty. We are in control of our destiny and the future of our organizations. In EOS, we call these major goals your ROCKS. “Rocks are just priorities — the 3 to 7 most important things you must accomplish in the next ninety days.” Re-group, Re-organize and Re-evaluate your Rocks As you look to the next 90 days, what are the 3-7 most important priorities your company needs to accomplish? Or said another way, 90 days from now – at the end of September – what will you have wished you started today? Employees are looking to you to
Recurring Issues? Fix Them for Good!
Why reinvent the wheel? Does that question ring a bell? I’m sure it does for you as much as it does for many business leaders I work with every day. Think about how many times you’ve explained a process to someone or answered a question over and over and over again. Now think about how many times your leadership team, department managers, and others have done the same thing. Concerned about consistency in how things are done? Recurring problems are prohibitive to growth and profitability. Spending time readdressing issues is time that is significantly more effective when focused on growing the business and systemizing operations. So where do you start? EOS is an Operating System. As an EOS Implementer my role is to coach you and your team to clarify issues and the root cause of them, discuss them and then solve them for the long term. One part of the work
