I grew up in a middle class family with a tough dad and learnt from a young age to work hard to be independent. After university I spent two years doing compulsory military training in the South African army where I became an officer and learnt the power of leadership and discipline. Later I founded my first company, had no money but bootstrapped it to success. It was in software, and I loved learning the inner workings of a variety of businesses big and small as I implemented accounting systems for them. I also discovered my passion: to help people find a better life through their businesses.
When I was 40 we emigrated to Canada because of crime and violence in South Africa and to find better opportunities for my family and myself. I had to work hard to re-invent my career, learnt fast and became a contract CEO. During this time a client asked me to read the book “Traction.” I fell in love with the simplicity and completeness of the system, and how it helps people find a better life through their businesses, which is exactly in line with my personal purpose, so that is why I am inspired and excited to be on this journey with people like you.
