I’ve made the operator-to-owner transition twice and sold both businesses. Now I help owners do the same — before it costs them what it cost me.

About

I co-founded a construction company with my husband in 1986. I worked in the business for fourteen years, then made a decision most owners are afraid to make: I stepped back into the owner’s seat and let the company run without me in the building every day. Over the next decade, that business grew to $40M in annual revenue across multiple states — and when we sold it in 2010, it didn’t need me to close the deal. It already ran without me.

Then I did it again. I acquired a fly-fishing resort in Montana in 2014, ran day-to-day operations through a multi-year turnaround, built an on-site leadership team, stepped back from operations, and sold it in 2021. Two businesses, two industries, two successful exits — and the same playbook driving both.

While working with a company running on EOS®, I saw what I’d done intuitively made systematic and repeatable. I became a Certified EOS Implementer® and a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) because the combination answers both questions an owner eventually has to face: How do I build a business that runs without me? And what is it actually worth when I’m ready to leave?

Today I work with owners who are 3–10 years from a potential exit and still the bottleneck in their own company. I help them install the structure, build the team, and close the value gap — so the exit they get reflects what they actually built, not what the market thinks a dependent business is worth.

Every framework I teach, I’ve used on my own businesses first.
