Jay Strear

I’m Jay Strear, a Certified EOS Implementer® in Denver, and I spent 32 years as a nonprofit executive before I implemented EOS in anyone else’s organization. I was ordained as a rabbi, earned an MBA, and spent 23 years at American Jewish University, where I raised more than $170 million. As President and CEO of JEWISHcolorado, I led the community through the Tree of Life massacre, COVID, and the Marshall Fires while restructuring the organization and completing a capital campaign.

Across my career, I have raised more than $200 million. I’m warm, direct, and steady under pressure, and I name what a team avoids so it can get solved.

I work primarily with nonprofits of 11 to 200+ staff. I also work with partner- and board-governed firms and PE-backed companies, where the CEO answers to people who don’t run the organization day to day. I work in person in Denver and throughout Colorado, and virtually nationwide.

I work with leadership teams in three situations: no strategic plan, a plan that has gone dormant, or a current plan the team isn’t executing. Where there is no plan, we build one. Where one exists, we test it and keep what holds. Either way, most of the work goes into execution and team health.
