Value of a Coach

When I was in high school, I spent countless hours on the golf course trying to perfect my swing. I loved the game, and like most driven people, I thought effort alone was the answer.

If I just practiced more, watched others, and hit enough balls, I’d get there.

But no matter how much I tried, something was always off. I’d slice one hole, hook the next. Frustration crept in, and I started wondering if I just didn’t have “it.”

Then my coach stepped in.

He watched me hit a few balls, smiled, and said, “You’re fighting your own mechanics.”

He made one small adjustment to my grip and posture—simple things I’d never have caught on my own—and everything changed.

The ball started flying straight. My confidence grew. And for the first time, I actually enjoyed the game again.

That experience taught me something that’s shaped how I lead and coach others today:

We all need someone who can see what we can’t.

In golf, it’s a coach.

In business, it’s a guide.

When leadership teams try to self-implement EOS, they’re often doing what I did—working hard, but fighting their own mechanics. They’ve got the tools, but not always the right sequence, rhythm, or accountability to make it all work together.

That’s where an EOS Implementer comes in. Someone who can help you focus on the fundamentals, build great habits, and keep you aligned with what matters most.

There’s a quiet humility in being coachable. It doesn’t mean weakness—it means wisdom.

And I’ve learned through both faith and experience that we were never meant to walk the path alone.

If your business feels stuck, or if you’re self-implementing and wondering if there’s a better way, I’d love to help.
