Most of the leadership teams I work with are within a few hours of my desk in Lafayette. Some weeks that means a drive to Lake Charles or down to Houma. Some weeks it is Alexandria, or New Iberia, or a longer haul north to Shreveport or Monroe. And some weeks the team is spread across three states and we meet over video instead.
The drive is not the interesting part. What is interesting is how similar the conversations are once I get there.
The Problem Is Rarely the Market
Louisiana business owners tend to blame conditions. The storm season, the oilfield, the labor pool, the customer who takes 90 days to pay. Those are all real. But when a company has been stuck at the same revenue for three years, the ceiling almost never turns out to be the market.
It is usually that everything still runs through the owner. Decisions wait on one person. The leadership team meets and discusses and nothing gets decided. Good people sit in seats that were built around whoever was available at the time, not around what the company needs now.
None of that is a Louisiana problem. It is a founder-led company problem, and I have watched it look exactly the same in a service company in Lafayette, a marketing agency across the country, and a restaurant two hours up the interstate.
What Actually Changes When a Team Runs on EOS
When a leadership team starts running on EOS, the first thing that shifts is the meeting. Issues get decided instead of discussed again. Then priorities get owners and dates. Then the owner stops being the only person who can answer a question.
It is not fast and it is not magic. On average it takes a leadership team about 10 sessions to get 80% strong on the Six Key Components. What it is, is durable. The teams that stick with it stop having the same three arguments every quarter.
What Does Not Change
You still have to do the work. I facilitate, I teach the tools, and I hold your team accountable to what it decided. Your people run the business. Anyone who tells you an outside facilitator will fix your company for you is selling something.
