It’s Time for a Leadership Checkup

We’re deep into the third quarter of the year, which makes this a great time to pause and ask a simple question: How are you really doing? Not just financially or operationally, but as a leader. Are you focused on the right priorities? Are your team and culture getting stronger? Are you consistently doing the things that will help you finish the year the way you want?

That’s why I enjoyed a recent conversation between Tim Hiller, Owner/Operator of Chick-fil-A Walker, and Calvin University football coach Trent Figg. Using the football season as a backdrop, they discuss commitment, consistency, culture, and the adjustments great teams make along the way. One idea stood out to me: successful teams don’t leave the rest of the season to chance. They regularly step back, evaluate where they are, and make the adjustments necessary to finish strong.

Take a few minutes to watch the video below. As you do, think about what adjustments you need to make over the next few months. This is also a great time to take an Organizational Checkup. It can help you identify gaps in focus, alignment, and execution before they become bigger obstacles, while revealing the opportunities that will have the greatest impact between now and year-end. There’s still plenty of time left in the year, but the leaders who finish strong are usually the ones willing to stop, reflect, and recommit before it’s too late.
