Someone quoted a line this week in a meeting that made me pause…
There’s a difference between enthusiasm and commitment.
Enthusiasm is the energy in the room when you roll out the new plan. Everyone nods. Everyone’s excited.
Commitment is what’s still there on a Tuesday in week six when the plan is hard and the excitement is gone.
A lot of leadership teams mistake the first for the second.
They see heads nodding and think they have buy-in. Then the rocks slip and they wonder what happened.
Nothing happened. You had enthusiasm, and you never converted it to commitment.
The conversion isn’t a better kickoff.
It’s clear ownership, a real number, and a date someone actually agreed to, out loud, in front of the team.
Ask yourself about your last big initiative.
Did people cheer for it, or did they commit to it?
Those are not the same meeting.
