I come from 5 generations of entrepreneurs. I also come from a family of helpers: ministers, teachers, and philanthropists. So I am genetically drawn to the creative energy of entrepreneurship and helping others!
My brother and sister and I grew a business out of bankruptcy to 5 million in revenue despite the 3 of us flying by the seat of our ADHD pants! That growth was the result of hard work, great people, and great customer care but came at a high cost – constant stress, so many sleepless nights, countless evenings and weekends away from family and friends and we struggled with profitability which all led us to the gut-wrenching decision to sell to a competitor.
After the sale of the business, my helping gene called me into teaching the most challenging students in behavioural and mental health treatment programs. That’s where I learned the value of being able to facilitate a chaotic room of extremely complicated personalities and create the best environment for them to learn which, at times, is not too dissimilar to working with leadership teams. That was deeply rewarding work because I know I helped many students and their families grow to live a life outside of institutions and incarceration.
Serendipity struck when my sister gave my brother and me a copy of Gino’s book Traction. After reading it, we all realized that’s what had been missing in our business. If EOS had been around then, we wouldn’t have had to sell our business. We would have had better options and more opportunities.
It also led me to become an EOS Implementer which allows me to marry my teaching, facilitating and coaching skills, with entrepreneurship and my desire to help others.
That’s why I am excited to share EOS with business owners because I want to help you expand your options and avoid having to make the kinds of sacrifices and difficult choices that we had to make.
