I’ve been a social entrepreneur and an organizational leader for 25 years, following an earlier career as an orchestra conductor and music teacher. The shift from “orchestras to organizations” coincided with Jim Collins’s release of Good to Great in 2001, which sparked a long-running curiosity in me about what makes organizations excel. I immersed myself in leadership reading and conversations, always seeking practical ways to raise performance and culture.
As president and CEO of my third organization, I led a regional talent-development initiative that united CEOs, K–12 superintendents, higher education leaders, elected officials, and nonprofit executives to tackle hard problems and deliver measurable results. In 2017, an industry CEO introduced me to the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS), and after a weekend reading the core books and engaging an implementer, the next seven years were the most impactful of my career—bringing clearer focus, stronger results, and a healthier culture. That experience led me to become a professional EOS implementer, helping for-profit and nonprofit leadership teams achieve the same clarity, alignment, and performance.
